The plant is compact, grows to 6 inches tall, and blooms continuously. It's also perennial in zone 5, which means it has a chance to carry over year-to-year with milder Ozarks winters.

'Festival Spider Salmon w/Eye' Gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii 'Festival Spider Salmon w/Eye') bears remarkably vibrant flowers 3-4-inches wide in a unique "spider" form. The series are fast-flowering, sun-loving annuals that grow to 12 inches tall. Though this one is labeled "salmon" in color, it appears to be a vivid pink. Other colors in the series include rose, orange, yellow, light eye apricot, light eye orange, light eye white, light eye blush, light eye pink, and dark eye pink. The Festival series plants are extremely floriferous, bearing more blossoms than other gerberas.

'Honey Treat' Corn (Zea mays 'Honey Treat') is a mid-early TripleSweet sweet corn that can be harvested 76 days from seeding. The ears are 8 inches long and deliciously sweet with 14-18 rows of yellow kernels.
'Passion' Corn (Zea mays 'Passion') features high sugar content, enhanced flavor, and long shelf life. The ears are 8-1/2-inches long, heavy, and have 18-20 rows with small, sweet, succulent yellow kernels. Itcan be harvested in 81 days from seed.
The new 'Cheddar' Cauliflower (Brassica oleracea 'Cheddar') might cause a stir at the dinner table--it's the orangey color of a good cheddar cheese and holds the color when cooked. The color is the result of high levels of beta-carotene. The heads are uniform, smooth, domed, and solid, and can be harvested 68 days from transplanting.

The new 'Balloon' Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Balloon') bears 2-inch fruits that resemble winged bells. The flesh is flavorful, crunchy, and sweet, belying the hot center and seeds. The plant does well in containers or in the garden. Harvest is 83 days from seed.

The 'Sweet Spot X3R' Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Sweet Spot X3R') is noted for disease resistance, fruit, substance, and sweet flavor. ITs light-greenish-yellow banana peppers mature to bright red in about 70-72 days. The fruits are 8 inches long and taper to a point, are not pungent, and are sweet either cooked or raw.
|'Watermelon Mantang Hong' Radish|
We think this picture is a painting and not a photography, but in any event, the 'Watermelon Mantang Hong' Radish (Raphanus sativus 'Watermelon Mantang Hong') is definitely worth a look. It's a large, 3-1/2-inch diameter round, sweet heirloom radish from China, white on the outside, red on the inside. The NGB advises slicing it and sprinkling the slices with black sesame seeds for a stylish gourmet presentation resembling a tiny watermelon. It can be harvested in 50-60 days from seed.
The new 'Premium' Pea (Pisum sativum 'Premium') produces pods as long as 3 inches that average 7-8 very sweet, excellent-tasting, medium-size peas that can be harvested as early as 51 days from seed. The vines reach 30 inches long and may be grown with or without support.
The new 'Merlin' Beet (Beta vulgaris 'Merlin') matures early and produces uniformly round beets noted for exceptional flavor due to a high 14-15% sugar content. The plant is resistant to both drought and downy mildew and can be harvested 55 days from seed.

'Toy Choy' Bok Choi (Brassica chinensis L. 'Toy Choy') is a miniature, 5-inch tall bok choi (sometimes "pak choi") with white petioles and dark green leaves. The NGB says it's "perfect for home gardeners and specialty growers." It can be harvested 30-35 days from seed. Note: Bok choi is believed to be oldest of the Asian greens, having been cultivated in China since the 5th century.
'SPD415' Spinach (Spinacea oleracea 'SPD415') doesn't have the most romantic name, but among its advantages are resistance to white rust and downy mildew. The plant has a moderate growth rte and erect 3-4-inch dark green leaves. It's perfect for dense plantings to produce baby leaf spinach. Harvest 21-30 days from seed.
Chinese Mustard (Brassica Rapa chinensis) is a mustard-flavored leafy green vegetable that grows quickly to 12 inches tall. It can be used raw or cooked and is good added to soups and stir-fries. The NGB also advises peeling, boiling, slicing, and serving with soy sauce and sesame oil. The plant matures in 57 days.
